Tommy "Big Tom" Hymes is ENERGY! A percussionist extraordinaire and his style shows it. Tommy gives his all in every show. He is non-stop from jump-street. "Big Tom" steals the show with his renditions of 'Roadhouse", "Push", "Precious Declaration" and "Taking Care of Business". Tommy is the most traveled member of Rockin Horse. After graduating from Clay High School, where Big Tom performed in both the Marching and Stage Bands, he moved to California. There Big Tom would perform in many well known Los Angeles rock clubs such as "Troubadour" and "Whiskey-A-Go-Go". The band opened a show for Kix and Virgin at F.M. Station. His band was called Runner (1988) and he worked closely with his three uncles. The band toured the South West and South East covering at least 15 states. Big Tom returned home to West Virginia and built his own band Big Guns (1990). He toured the East Coast, Ohio and Kentucky opening for groups such as the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Pat Travers. His band was well known, frequently performing in the Marshall University Fraternity communities. He has played popular local festivals such as the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta (1992) Spanky's Aids Benefit (1993) and The Edge's Cancer Benefit (1993). From Big Guns to Diamond Back (1998) to Rockin Horse, Big Tom is still pounding and singing away. |
