Dave "Corn Cobb" McCormick

"Corn Cobb" is a name that Dave McCormick has carried gracefully for over 20 years. With a voice that can reflect the deep, smooth flow of the Kanawha River or the rough, weary trails of Lincoln County. "Corn Cobb" brings a level of emotion to his songs that none can compete with. He lives and breathes his musical gift and it shows in every song. If you can tell where the man stops and the guitar begins, you aren't listening. Close your eyes and feel the song. Every tear, every sigh, every "Hell Yeah!" is felt in the music that he creates.

Dave "Corn Cobb" McCormick began his musical career by playing drums when he was 11 years old and he played until he graduated high school. "Corn Cobb" added the guitar when he was 12. From there he couldn't turn back. His experiences alone could fill a novel. Performing at shows from the time he was 15, he found himself part of the "Steve Mullins and the Southern Sound" group which opened for Ronnie McDowell.

During his time as a team member in various bands, "Corn Cobb" would continue developing his unique style by performing solos shows and free-lance gigs. He was performing with Red Starr Rockets when he opened for Delbert McClinton at the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta (1993).

Dave formed his own bands called Foxtrap, Sidewinder and Diamond Back, before moving to Greensboro, North Carolina. There he formed "Gypsy Leather" and toured locally for approximately one year. Once returning home to the Mountain State, "Corn Cobb" teamed up with old friends again and Diamond Back was reborn (1989). From there Rockin Horse would form (1999).
