"Rockin Horse" was a thunderous classic rock and R&B band.  With as many as six members at times, it was a glimpse of what was to come.  But within 2 years, everyone had quit until, Wayne was the only one that was sure he wanted to keep on playing.  I was sort of at a personal ground zero.  Always before, the bands had been "our band".  And always before the number of members was limited by money.  I decided to create a band that was about the music, not the money.  I wanted my dream band.  "My band".  So I decided that our focus would be on original songs, in a wide variety of styles.  I knew I would need a wider variety of musicians and singer to achieve this sound.  First I recruited Steve and then Stan.  Then Tommy got back on board and we were on our way.  Davy Breedlove, Steve's brother, soon joined and was quickly followed by Jason Newhouse, both on guitar.  I wanted some harmony and finally found it when I hired Allison Gunter.  These young lady rounds out the band, and give us a more polished sound, as well as giving the guys something to look and to look at.  We also brought Jimmy Lowe on board. I told friends about the band and they would say "Sounds like an orchestra!".  So we finally decided to call ourselves "Dave McCormick and The Outlaw Orchestra".

There is no band even remotely like us anywhere around.  I have said I'd like for us to strive to be the "Southern Eagles".  We will keep trying.  I feel we are at least headed down that path.  We are a band made up of brothers, cousins, and old friends.  Our bonds run deep and we know we have something very special.  We have a common goal and we believe we will achieve it.  Committing ourselves to playing original music is a tall order, but we think we've got it covered.

With the song writing talent that Wayne Holstein, Steve Breedlove, and myself bring to the band, I feel we are more than capable.  A song that Steve and I wrote named "Fifty Feet of Dirt" is slated to be on the next CD released by Giant Records Recording artist "Johnny Staats and the Delivery Boys".

On January 1, 2000, I decided to sing only original songs on my regular weeknight shows.  It has been a huge success.  Not only have folks stopped asking for cover songs, but they are now asking for my original songs by name.  Amazingly almost everyone picks a different one of my creations as their "favorite Corn Cobb song".  I have over 250 songs written in a wide variety of styles, country, rock, blues and bluegrass.  Each has a sprinkling of my own brand of Spiritual songs and I am almost constantly writing new ones.  Due to popular demand, I have begun to work on a CD of original songs that should be out in the summer.

I owe a great deal of thanks to some regular patrons of Bambino's in South Charleston.  Those wonderful people's encouragement is the primary reason I began performing only my original works during my solo shows.

Music seems to have always been the defining force of my life and it continues to be so.  I hope it always stays that way.

Thank you and may God bless you.
